Your healthcare coverage may be affected!
Because of new federal legislation, H.R.1, "The One Big Beautiful Bill Act"...
- Some HUSKY D members ages 19–64 may need to meet a work or activity requirement to keep their coverage. You should know what those are.
- There are some exceptions. You should know what they are.
- You will also need to renew your healthcare coverage every six months. This is different than in the past.
You must be alert and active to keep your healthcare coverage.

You may be at risk of losing healthcare benefits
Some HUSKY D members ages 19–64 may need to meet a work or activity requirement to keep their coverage after January 1, 2027.
You MAY NOT be affected at all if you:
- Qualify as medically frail, including because of a serious mental health condition, chronic substance use disorder, disability, blindness, or serious or complex medical condition
- Participate in a drug or alcohol treatment program
- Are pregnant or postpartum
- Care for a child under age 14
- Care for someone with a disability
- Meet another exemption
Otherwise, you ARE LIKELY AFFECTED BY THESE CHANGES.

The new requirements
First, please understand that you will need to renew your coverage EVERY SIX MONTHS. You can do that at AccessHealthCT.
Wheeler is working on a tool to keep you informed on your renewal and help make it easier to stay enrolled.
Under the change, you will now need to meet one of these requirements each month to keep your benefits:
- Earn at least $580/month
- Work at least 80 hours/month
- Volunteer or perform community service at least 80 hours/month
- Participate in a qualifying work or job-training program at least 80 hours/month
- Be enrolled at least half-time in an education program
- Combine qualifying activities to reach 80 hours/month

- Keep your address and contact information updated.
- Open and respond to all DSS and HUSKY notices.
- Check whether you qualify for an exemption.
- Provide requested information about your work, education, training, or volunteer activities.
- HUSKY D renewals will be required every 6 months beginning January 1, 2027.

Open enrollment for the marketplace starts Friday, October 23, 2026 and ends on Friday, January 15, 2027. Wheeler's community health workers and patient services associates are certified to assist you!
Open enrollment for 2027 health and dental plans will start October 23, 2026 and end on January 15, 2027.
Enroll between October 23 and December 15 for coverage starting on January 1.
Enroll between December 16 and January 15 for coverage starting on February 1.
