In-home and community-based services
Wheeler provides dozens of in-home and community-based programs for families, children, and adolescents, as well as specific programs focused on substance use disorder. Many of these programs are funded and supported by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families or the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.

Reunification and Therapeutic Family Time
Reunification and Therapeutic Family Time Services (R&TFTS) is a strengths-based program that supports and reconnects families who have been separated as a result of trauma, child abuse or neglect. The program offers reunification services delivered by a team of clinicians and counselors and includes family reunification readiness assessments, child and family preparation for reunification, parent coaching and case management services.
ConnectiKIN (C-KIN)
ConnectiKIN (C-KIN) provides connections, supports, and resources needed to raise resilient children who thrive. Kinship caregivers provide comfort, familiarity, and stability when a child needs it most. It’s a vital, challenging role to help ensure caregivers can access resources and services they need to succeed.
Transitional Supports for Emerging Adults (TSEA)
An individualized, evidence-informed program model that provides young adults in foster care the support and guidance they need to make a successful transition to adulthood. TSEA pairs a highly trained specialist with each young person to help identify and accomplish goals. Specialists meet with the young adults in person at least once a week wherever the young adult feels comfortable i.e. the young adult’s home, place of employment, school or a community setting.

Wheeler's Congregate Care provides supportive and consistent home-like environments to meet the unique needs of children and youth referred by the Department of Children and Families.

For court-referred parents with active divorce, separation or custody cases
Wheeler's Parenting Education Program (PEP) is designed for parents with active divorce, separation or custody cases in the Family Division of the Connecticut court system. The program educates parents about the many issues children face when the structure of the family changes.


Help for employees and employers
Employee Assistance Program
Wheeler’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) helps employees and their family members with personal challenges like stress or mental health needs. The program also provides advice and training to managers to improve workplaces. If your employer offers this program, you and your family can use these services to feel healthier, more supported, and ready to do your best at work.
