Wheeler is offering an inspiring virtual Foster Parent Training from September 8 through October 2, 2025, to prepare prospective foster parents and families for the role of fostering a child or youth in Waterbury and surrounding towns. The training is delivered via Zoom by Wheeler’s dedicated, caring team of specialists, social workers, and clinicians who work closely with foster families from the start and continue as supportive teammates throughout the fostering process.

Foster families in Waterbury and surrounding towns are supported at many levels.
- Foster families receive an enhanced monthly stipend for care and board.
- A team is assigned to each youth to help the family meet the unique needs of that youth.
- Families have access to on-call support services 24 hours a day as well as ongoing support groups and trainings.
