Northwest Village School Referral Process

Referrals accepted from public school districts only.

About Our Referral Process

We accept referrals to our programs on a rolling basis, throughout the school year and summer. Referrals are only accepted from public school districts. Those districts fund the Northwest Village School (NVS) tuition and arrange transportation. Students admitted to Northwest Village School have: 1) Qualified for special education supports, 2) Have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and 3) Are looking for a diagnostic placement and testing to determine IEP eligibility. Most families explore more than one program when they are choosing an outplacement, and we recommend that as a good way to find the right fit for your student. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the process and about our program.

Your public school district provides a referral to special education and an IEP.

Discuss NVS as an option with the school support and planning and placement teams (PPT).

Once there is a referral, we will reach out to schedule an informational tour and an interview with the parent and student.

During the intake, the intake clinician will go through student-specific documentation and ask the student and guardian questions to more fully understand the student's school-related needs. The student will also spend time visiting classes and meeting students and staff.

If the parent, students, NVS staff, and local school districts agree, we will meet to revise the IEP and choose a start date.
